Bologna set to host the Alzheimer Europe Conference 2025
October 15, 2024
An important news was announced during the recent Alzheimer Europe Conference in Geneva: Bologna will be the venue for the 2025 edition of this important scientific congress.
From October 8 to 10, Geneva welcomed 963 delegates from 42 European countries for the 34th Alzheimer Europe Conference, entitled “New Horizons - Innovating for Dementia”, held at the Centre International de Conférences Genève (CICG). This international event, which has been held annually since 1991, is a crucial gathering time for all those dealing with dementia: from patients to caregivers to professionals in the field. The symposium provides an opportunity for participants to share and exchange experiences and knowledge.
This year, the conference placed a strong emphasis on the need to prioritize dementia by actively engaging the voices of sufferers and integrating new technologies to improve patients' quality of life. Through plenary sessions, parallel meetings and symposia, the event presented an opportunity to share experiences and expand scientific knowledge, aiming to build a society that listens to and values the needs of people with this neurodegenerative disease.
On Friday, during the final stages of the conference, it was announced that the 35th Alzheimer Europe Conference, entitled “Connecting Science and Community: The Future of Dementia Care”, will be held in Bologna from October 6 to 8 2025. The announcement was made by Mario Possenti, secretary general of the Alzheimer's Federation Italy, who took the stage in front of hundreds of delegates to present the future host city to the guests, highlighting both the tourist attractions of Bologna and the advantages of having chosen it as a conference destination.
The Bologna Convention Bureau supported the organization of the conference from the earliest moments, taking care of site surveys and providing logistical assistance, as well as promotional and digital materials to better publicize the upcoming event. In addition to Dr. Mario Possenti, the Convention Bureau collaborated with Manuela Belardinelli, President of Alzheimer's United Italy, and Clelia D'Anastasio, President of the Association for Research Assisting Dementia - ARAD, to better prepare the city for the event.
It will be a great meeting, an associative congress with nearly 1.000 estimated participants. We are sure that on the one hand, it will find fertile ground in the city of Bologna, known for its high academic level and innovation, and on the other hand, it will enrich local knowledge, leaving a significant cultural and scientific contribution.
