Bologna to host the prestigious 2025 Davis Cup Finals, a highlight of world tennis

The 2025 Davis Cup Finals, the ultimate men's team tennis competition, are to be played at the Unipol Arena from November 18 to 23, making Bologna the center of world tennis. It is a major opportunity for the city, both in terms of international visibility and economic impact.

The announcement, which comes from the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation - FITP and the International Tennis Federation - ITF, marks a historic moment for Bologna and Italy, which will welcome the best eight teams in the world next year to compete for the title. The Azzurri, who are aiming for a third after consecutive successes in 2023 and 2024, will enter the competition directly in the finals as the host nation.

This is a memorable return for the event, which has not held the finals in Italy for more than 25 years: the last time was in 1998. Bologna, however, has already successfully hosted the group stages of the event for the past three years, earning the trust of international federations thanks to an impeccable organization and the warm welcome reserved for the teams.

The excellent work done in the destination and the great results achieved by the Azzurri were rewarded this year by assigning Italy the next three editions of the Finals, through 2027. After Bologna in 2025, the host cities for the following years have yet to be confirmed: rumors include Milan and Bolzano (home of Jannik Sinner), besides the Emilia-Romagna capital.

With the finals to arrive, the number of tennis fans populating Bologna is set to grow, as is the expected induced revenue. Just to get an idea, it suffices to mention that in Malaga, where the last Finals were held, more than 43 % of the 65,000 spectators came from abroad; a figure that is likely to be replicated, with many foreign fans arriving to support the seven guest teams and their champions.

Davis Cup is definitely among the events that are solidifying Bologna as a leading sports destination in Italy. Increasingly capable of attracting globally significant sporting events, the city prepares for a year of great sport.
