European Mathematical Society chooses Bologna for CME 2028

The Council of the European Mathematical Society - EMS has chosen Bologna as the host city for the tenth edition of the European Congress of Mathematics - ECM, due to take place in 2028. The international event, to be held every four years, seeks to promote collaboration and encourage the development of all aspects of mathematics in Europe, from research to relations with society, European institutions and education.

It will be an excellent opportunity to celebrate the 100th anniversary of another major congress, namely that of the International Mathematical Society - IMU, which in 1928 marked the return to Italy of the international mathematical community, with more than 1100 participants from 36 countries.

The bid to host the event was supported by Dr. Fausto Ferrari, professor of the Department of Mathematics of the Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna, the Italian Mathematical Union, the National Institute of High Mathematics, the Italian Society of Applied and Industrial Mathematics, the Abdus Salam International Center for Theoretical Physics, the Municipality of Bologna and the Emilia-Romagna Region, with the support of the Bologna Convention Bureau.

Bologna therefore prepares to host a great moment of scientific congregation, in the spirit of the signature principles of EMS: respect, integrity and inclusiveness.
