FabrianoInAcquarello is back: thousands of artists and art enthusiasts in Bologna
April 30, 2024
From April 26-29, Bologna hosted the fourteenth edition of FabrianoInAcquarello, the international conference dedicated to watercolor painting on paper, organized by the association InArte.
The event, which engages more than 1,800 artists from 88 countries around the world each year, aims to disseminate and enhance watercolor painting on paper, an ancient and sustainable technique. The conference program featured a series of exhibitions, workshops, performances, demos, lectures and plein airs that occupied several of Bologna's iconic venues, including Biblioteca Salaborsa, Palazzo Isolani, ExtraBO, the Scuderia, Casa Carducci and the squares of the historic center.
Some of the highlights included live demonstrations by international watercolor masters, including Nicolas Lopez, Lorena Massa, Jansen Chow, and Roberto Zangarelli, along with the exhibitions of their selected works, which offered an overview of the variety and quality of contemporary watercolor. Among the exhibitions, the pleinair exhibition about the city of Bologna, which highlighted the authenticity of its splendid hidden corners, and the Japanese Maestros exhibition, which highlighted the magnificence of the oriental school, also stood out. Palazzo Isolani, on the other hand, welcomed international producers of art materials for a unique exhibition of the industry's most innovative products, which was followed by demonstrations given by the artists. The public was also able to actively participate in some of the activities offered, including collective painting in Piazza del Nettuno, relational and musical painting at the Scuderia, and collective plein air events in the squares of Bologna
The event is an opportunity for artists, enthusiasts and students to meet, compare and exchange ideas. The conference will be followed by meetings in the Umbro Marchigiano Apennines, in Fabriano and other borgoes in Emilia-Romagna and Marche, where artists will be able to visit the beauties of our country and paint its most fascinating corners.
